Description
RFI Questions and Answers Several notes on the drawings show electrical circuits being demo d back to source. Shouldn t we keep these to re-use for the new circuits? For the bid purpose. demo the existing circuits back to the source. More determination need to be made in field during the demolition and be coordinate with the COR. There are several locations on the drawings showing circuit homeruns (are these dedicated, do existing panels have spares) but no numbers or panels. Can we have some clarity on these? Any new homerun circuits shall be go to the same panels as the existing circuits for these rooms. For room 116-B, the panel is 1NLB-3 and for room 136-b and 137-B, the panel is 1NLB-1. Contractor to include new Circuit breakers for the panels. Drawing ED-100 shows the call stations to remain and be protected throughout. Are these be removed at all or just left alone and covered? Left alone and covered during the construction. Contractor to protect the call stations. There are conflicting notes on the x-rays and who is responsible for final connection/termination.  Are Xray s 1 for 1, existing power?  Is this the VA or electrical contractor? The X-ray for room 116-B is new and Contractor to provide new power to the X-ray and final connection and termination by others. The other rooms are replace existing x-ray units with new ones and contractor to modify and re-use the existing power, final connection and termination by others. What is your proposed path for the new feeder conduits between the existing risers and the new panels? Typically, the halls are extremely difficult to get any conduit in, let alone multiple large feeder conduits. Are any drop ceilings being removed for the new feeder install? The proposed path for the new feeder through the halls. It should be enough room to run new conduits. The contractor shall be responsible to remove the ceiling tiles as necessary to run the conduits and install them back. Knowing that, ICRA plan shall be maintain during removal the tiles. We have a couple questions regarding Drawing E-103. We want to clarify the wire and conduit sizes are shown correctly between Riser 61 & Panel 1NLB2 and also between Riser 81 & Panel 1NLB3. In the pictures, the wire sizes appear opposite than what is drawn. Since the wires/Conduits between the two risers and the existing panels are exist to remain. There is no effect on the Bid. Further discussion can be made on field during the construction with the COR. In the feeder size schedule on drawing E-105 it shows using full size grounds.  (The existing feeders have no equipment ground wire, using conduit as ground please provide detail on this grounding situation IE. ground bushings and ground bar, also use NEC for proper ground sizing for new feeders and loads.) The contractor shall be responsible to use the proper size of ground wire by NEC. Provide new mechanical ground lug inside the existing J-Box for the risers and the new Panels. Also ground bushings are required for the new feeders and should be connected to the same ground lug inside the J-box and new panels. The Phasing Schedule on drawing R-1 is confusing.  Are these 4 phases to be conducted at different times from one-another or at different locations from one-another or both?  Also the phasing within Phase Four on drawing A-107 is further confusing.  Please elaborate on the meaning of phasing as used in this design. There are 4 separate phases for this project. Each phase shall be finished before move to the next phase. Refer to sheet R-1 for exact details about the phases. Is it the intention to perform the work in Room 116-B at a different time from 136-B and 137-B?  Or can they be concurrent? There are 4 separate phases for this project. Each phase shall be finished before move to the next phase. Refer to sheet R-1 for exact details about the phases. Further discussion can be made in field prior to start the construction with the COR. Is drawing A-105 entitled Proposed Wall Mounted X-Ray Detail intended to apply only to Room 116-B?  Or to rooms 112B, 114B, 128B, and to 134B also? There is new X-ray to be install in room 116-B and there are eight x-rays to be replaced for the other rooms. Refer to Sheets A-100, A-101, and A-105 for additional details. Drawing A-105 Detail A/13 is indicated to be an option.  How is this option to be addressed as part of our work? Detail A-13 on sheet A-105 is option not optional. The detail indicated the type of the operation method to the X-rays. Drawing A-104 Detail A/17 calls out Corner Guards.  Please provide a specification. See attached specification for Corner Guard. Every drawing on every sheet throughout the entire drawing set is marked N.T.S.  Is there anything at all in the drawing set that can be scaled? No scale provided in the drawings. The drawings indicated the dimensions for each room that involved in the construction. The contractor shall field verify conditions prior to construction . Refer to the general notes in sheet R-1 for more information. Is the A-DEC equipment and furniture to be CC, VV, or CV? Refer to sheet A-102 detail A-1 for exact information. Please provide a specification for the type of tape required for Key Note 16 on drawing A-100. Floor Marking Tape, Extra-Durable, Striped, Rd/White, Brady 170074 or approved equal. Regarding the A-DEC consoles, drawing A-101 detail A/100 is the Right side console  and on A-103 detail A/8 is the Left side console, and vice-versa.  For orientation purposes which is right and which is left? There are two console sinks for room 116-B. The right side wall has the left side console sink and the left side wall has the right console sink. Refer to details A-100 and A-200 in sheet A-101 and A-100 for exact location. The height of both consoles on drawing A-101 is called out as 37 .  The height of both consoles on A-103 is called out as 34.8 .  Which is correct? The height of both consoles are 34.8 On drawing A-104, Room 136-B/137-B Finish Schedule, the Door Hardware line refers to door hardware specification section 08 71 00-13 for additional information.  Please provide this specification. Provide Armor plate Rockwood 601A K1050 x 4BE x 34"" x 35"" (2"" LWOD) with US32D finish or approved equal. Refer to attach SECTION 08 71 00 for door hardware specification for additional details. Drawing A-108, detail 1/A-108 shows 4 sketches identified as the X-Ray Insert Cabinet Detail. one sketch appears to be an elevation of some sort of framing.  Please clarify what this is supposed to depict.  The contractor shall be responsible to remove the existing x-ray insert cabinets and install the new x-ray insert cabinets QTY (4) supplied by VA. Refer to the construction notes in sheet A-108 and attached  specification of the insert cabinets for additional details.                                                                                                                                         Please clarify that the condition in a) above is common for all four cabinets. All the cabinets are the same sizes and dimensions.                                       Please clarify that the 14 dimension called out in two of the sketches is common for all four openings and partition walls. All the cabinets are the same sizes and dimensions. Refer to the attach specification sheet for exact dimensions. Drawing a-200, detail A/3 callout Applied Window Glazing .   Please provide a specification for the sealant. The detail A-3 in sheet A-200 indicated the exact type of the window glazing.
