- Description
- The scope of work for this project is to re-establish a permanent concrete weir to the design elevations shown in the Drawings near the northwest corner of the S-69 Weir. The scope of work within the northwest corner includes demolition of the temporary repair and the existing structure, construction of new cast-in-place concrete works, and placement of existing riprap in the sump. Demolition work includes removal of the entire temporary weir (riprap and non-excavatable CLSM), removal and stockpile of select areas of riprap and gravel in the sump to the limits and elevations shown in the Drawings, complete removal of the concrete cap to the limits shown in the Drawings, select removal of the concrete driving slab to the limits shown in the Drawings, and select cutting of the existing steel sheet pile to the limits and elevations shown in the Drawings. Concrete works include incidental earthwork (excavation, compaction and backfill), and complete construction of a slab-on grade with a turned-down edge, a concrete haunch, and two sections of concrete cap. Concrete construction include placement of steel reinforcing, placement of formwork, placement of steel dowels, placement of expansion joints, placement of ready-mix concrete, finishing and curing of placed concrete. In addition, concrete works include placement of foundation grout beneath the existing concrete driving slab through cored holes within the slab to fill voids that were not entirely filled during the temporary repair. The scope of work also includes placement of the previously excavated and stockpiled riprap and gravel adjacent to the weir. The access to the work area is the existing gravel-surfaced levee and by a temporary access road along the exterior limits of the weir sump as shown in the drawings. The materials for the access road are from the area designated in the drawings. The temporary access road will be removed at the conclusion of construction. The existing gravel-surfaced levee will be maintained throughout the duration of construction.
