Description
U.S. ARMY GROUND VEHICLE SYSTEM CENTER (GVSC) Market Survey Questionnaire The United States Army, Army Contracting Command-Warren (ACC-WRN) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) in support of the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC). BACKROUND INFORMATION: GVSC is the nations laboratory for developing advanced military ground vehicle technologies, and systems engineering and integration expertise. INTENT: The intent of this request is to obtain information from U. S. Universities in response to below listed questions. Please limit your response to be no longer than approximately one page per question. Question 9 response can be two pages. Please include the public purpose and benefit of this work in your answers.: Vehicle Dynamics, Control and Adaptive Behavior: Please describe your experience or capability in developing and integrating research developed algorithms and models in the vehicle dynamics, control and adaptive behavior domains, to support modeling and simulation tools for advanced conventional and autonomous vehicle development. Human-Centered Design and Human-Autonomy Teaming: Please describe your experience or capability in developing and integrating research developed methods to: improve the efficiency of vehicle design assessments resulting in shorter development times; improve performance for human-machine teams by understanding and leveraging trust-based information management, to include automated and semi-automated vehicles; and to leverage advances in human-centered design and teaming to design new and effective vehicles for both military and commercial markets. High Performance Structures and Materials for Adaptability and Extreme Mobility: Please describe your experience or capability in developing and integrating research developed simulation and optimization methods for materials, tailored materials and meta materials and structures for increasing survivability, reliability, and durability of ground vehicles while decreasing weight and maintaining and/or improving system performance in extreme terrains. Intelligent Power Systems: Please describe your experience or capability in developing and integrating research developed to investigate new energy conversion and propulsion systems for conventional and autonomous ground vehicle systems and to develop validated simulation models for their design, analysis and methodologies for evaluating the true potential of proposed advanced technologies. Fleet Operations and Vehicle System of Systems Integration: Please describe your experience and capability in developing and integrating research results developed to create new methods for studying ground vehicles as a system of systems with an emphasis on robustness and reliability, while focusing on the creation of a comprehensive vehicle performance and evaluation system; from which to create modeling, simulation and design tools and methods for resilient ground vehicle fleets. Please describe your laboratories and facilities that support research in the following areas: off-road robotic mobility testing, in-city autonomy assessments, engine testing, perception testing, power and energy, automotive, simulation and robotics. Describe the ability to do cooperative research with GVSC engineers and scientists in these laboratories and facilities to include cost estimates based on travel expenses and the same costs for students and faculty to use similar government facilities located in Warren, MI. Describe your experience and capability in developing collaborative research methodologies and processes that include government as well as the automotive industry. Describe your experience and capability in developing multi-university research centers in the areas described in questions 1-5. Include the number of universities involved in the center, the years the center has existed and the funding source for said center, i.e. government, industry, university or collaboratively funded. Describe your organizations institutionalized experience and expertise in the following three domains: (Two-page answer allowed for question 9) a. Robotic Ground Vehicles (including autonomy) b. Modeling and Simulation c. Automotive Research Please include descriptions of the programs/degrees/certificates/emphasis area (majors) and departments you have developed around these subjects (please indicate accreditation (ABET or other) of have for these offerings). Please list the laboratory facilities you have developed for these activities. Please list how many professors and staff you have for each of these activities. Please provide written responses to both: Koby Kobler at doreen.m.kobler.civ@army.mil and Andrea Simon at andrea.m.simon.civ@army.mil by no later than 4PM EST on 07 November 2023.
