Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District will be soliciting proposals for the US Department of Agriculture National Grapes Improvement Center at Cornell University (USDA NGIC). The project site is located on the USDA-Cornell University AgriTech Campus, in Geneva, New York. As part of the construction contract solicitation, the USACE intends to include the following sole source and/or brand name requirements: Building Automation - There is already an active Automated Logic WebCTRL server/architecture on campus, and the new building needs to seamlessly integrate into the existing front end. Therefore, the Cornell campus standards require the use of an Automated Logic WebCTRL building automation system. This facilitates consistency throughout the campus, speed and efficiency of response and ease of maintenance. The local system integration contractor Logical Control Solutions is the preferred contractor that is approved to work on site. In addition to compatibility with the campus system, the use of an Automated Logic WebCTRL platform system ensures that the campus partner is familiar with the system and equipment, has ready access to parts, and that maintenance staff are both familiar with the equipment but also the local procedures on the campus, as well being able to utilize existing relationships with service contractors if required who are familiar with the campus system. This will facilitate faster response to maintenance tasks and provides more detailed information to the responding personnel in an emergency situation. Fire Alarm System proprietary fire alarm system equipment (Gamewell-FCI E3 Series Control Panel and Field Equipment) is required to interface with the NGICs fire alarm equipment to the existing Agri-tech campus fire alarm system network for supervision and control. Exterior Brick Faade The proposed NGIC project is located on the Cornell Agritech campus in Geneva, NY. The project is intended to house USDA and Cornell Scientists. The Project goal is to unify the current campus and provide definition to the Collier drive street scape. The brick selection for the project is key into tying the existing multiple building appearance across campus. The brick types currently selected have been approved by the Cornell Campus architect and relates to the existing Cornell Food Research building. The bricks selected will enhance the modern design of the building while fitting within the campus architecture. Therefore, the identified brand name item or proprietary specification is intended to solely relay the BOD for the exterior brick types used on the project. Exterior Curtain Wall Glass Frit The exterior glass faade has incorporated a frit pattern into the layout. The frit has been designed to be a vibrated green color digitally printed on the second surface of the glass. The architect has received several samples from various manufacturers and the color range of the product has varied. The design intent is to have a vibrant green color which compliments the zinc metal panels and the chosen field brick. Therefore, the identified brand name and color selection is intended to solely relay the BOD for the color of the digital print. Spacing and layouts of the grit are indicated on the project documentation. Overhead Coiling Doors ASHRAE 90.1 air infiltration requirements for exterior overhead coiling doors can only be met by two products. One of the two products is marketed under two differing brand names, as Cornell and Cookson are now one company, with the product marketed under each brand name. It is not the intent of HDR to develop a proprietary specification, and perhaps the market will develop a third compliant product by the time the project goes to bid. Exterior Glass Folding Doors (Robotics Lab) - Design team is proposing a specific exterior glass folding door for the robotics room. No overhead tracks are desired. Typical garage door tracks will conflict with robotics overhead support system and clear requirements for the robots. The proposed product has a limited overhead clearance requirement and folds flat at the structural girder line. When in the open position, half of the glass door system is located outside of the building and half would be located on the in the robotics space. The operation and profile of the door will provide the required clearances and allow for the robots to pass smoothly into the building. Proprietary product is desired. Knox Box - Specific Knox box is required by the local fire department. Proprietary product is desired. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by the agency. The submission must be received no later than 1:00 PM Eastern Time on 1 December 2023 to Jeffrey.S.Sprunger@usace.army.miI. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
