Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101(a)(1) requiring the dissemination of information regarding proposed contract actions. This Notice of Intent is for a proposed award of an open market sole source award for ANATOMICAL AUTOPSY SERVICE to support the Department of Veterans Affairs, Minneapolis MN VA Health Care System, One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis MN 55417. The proposed award is to the MIDWEST MEDICAL EXAMINER S OFFICE, 14341 Rhinestone Street NW, Ramsey MN 55303, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b); Soliciting Competition, Soliciting from a Single Source, due to Urgency. The Urgency is due to the lack of VA employees capable of providing the required services. Although the facility has two (2) authorizations, one employee is on extended medical leave and the other employee will be on extended medical leave beginning 1/2/2024. The Minneapolis VA requires accredited anatomical autopsy services to be performed within a reasonable proximity of the VA Hospital. The only known Medical Examiner with required credentials capable of providing required services is MIDWEST MEDICAL EXAMINER S OFFICE, 14341 Rhinestone Street NW, Ramsey MN 55303. Services to include the following: Complete Autopsy Limited Autopsy Neuropathology Consultation Cardiac Pathology Consultation Embalmed Decedent Surcharge Brain Removal for Donation Program Hardware/Device Removal Storage of Remains Microscopic Glass Slide Recuts Microscope Prints from Slides Human Remains Pouch/Body Bag Transportation services will be provided by the Minneapolis VA Decedent Affairs Office. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this service is 621511, Medical Laboratories. The Product Service Code (PSC) is Q515, Medical-Pathology. While this synopsis does not constitute a solicitation, interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to satisfy the requirement by submitting a capability statement that clearly identifies the ability to provide the required services.
