- The Marine Operations � Data And Technology Assembly (MO-DATA) is the annual Survey Technician training event and is being hosted in Newport, OR from December 11th to December 21st, 2023. This event is crucial in the training and development of our primary data stewards, the Survey Technicians, and includes a rigorous training schedule with the sessions listed under technical specifications. Well in advance of the meeting, the Hallmark Hotel was chosen as the hotel for accommodations based on the pricing, availability, and location and a block of rooms was reserved at the government rate. Initially, each Survey Technician was asked to provide payment for the duration of their stay and claim reimbursement. Due to the concern with the delay in voucher repayments, many Survey Technicians and XO�s from ships have reached out suggesting we look into alternate methods to pay for accommodations and remove the financial burden on the Survey Technicians to pay for their own accommodations and later be reimbursed. This is a request to cover the cost of the accommodations to relieve this burden, remove the need to reimburse the survey technicians at a later date and further remove the burden on an already backlogged voucher reimbursement system. The total number of participants is 26, for a total of 315. Rooms required
