- The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Cotton and Tobacco Program, has a requirement to replace some HVAC equipment at the Cotton Classing Lab, located at 3545 Twin River Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. The project includes the following scope: Base Project:� Replace AHU-1 consisting of a custom packaged air handling unit with prefilter, final filter, steam distribution humidifier, chilled water coil, fan array with top discharge, 21,740 cfm as scheduled. Replace RC-1 steam reheat coil with a unit having stainless steel tubes and fins.� Existing RF-1 is an industrial stainless-steel model upstream of AHU-1 and shall remain. Replace intake hood 1 serving AHU-1.� Curb Cap has been left for this purpose by the roofing contractor under a previous project. Controls for this unit will be installed under the scope of another project. Remove the insulation from the chilled water tank.� Cap the vent and pressure test this ASME rated tank to 50 psi.� Provide new side stream sock filter, new makeup PRV to admit soft water at a pressure of 10 psig.� Provide a Shrader valve to charge the tank with air.� Existing site glass to remain.� Reinsulate the tank and provide metal jacket.� Selectively replace insulation on steam, condensate, and chilled water piping. Alternate 1: Replace RC-2 steam reheat coil serving AHU-2 with a unit having copper tubes and aluminum fins. Replace duct wrap insulation downstream of reheat coil over electric/air room, to the first tee in the receiving and storage room.� This insulation has been wet due to the faulty reheat coil. Controls for this unit will be replaced under another project. Alternate 2: Replace AHU-2 consisting of a custom packaged air handling unit with prefilter, final filter, steam distribution humidifier, chilled water coil, fan array with top discharge, 19,210 cfm as scheduled. Replace RC-2 steam reheat coil serving AHU-2 with a unit having stainless steel tubes and fins. Controls for this unit will be replaced under the scope of another project, with existing control valves to remain. Alternate 3: Replace existing simplex boiler feed pump with duplex model.� Connect controls to existing boiler makeup feeder.� This unit has a feedwater heater/thermocouple and is responsive to the pump controller on the boiler. Alternate 4:� For the computer room, replace packaged rooftop unit No. 2 (existing 4-ton gas/electric) with a 4-ton unit having cooling only with hot gas reheat for humidity control. Alternate 5: Replace electrical bolted pressure switch west of the building. The project will be set aside for small business concerns only.� The NAICS code for this project is 238220, Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors, with a small business size standard of $19 million.� The estimated magnitude of the project is between $500,000 and $1,500,000.� The solicitation will be posted on or about Jan 26, 2024.
