This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs Albany VA Medical Center intends to award a Firm Fixed Price (FFP), brand name only, sole source action. Name of Contractor: Marathon Medical Street Address: 3251 Lewiston Street, Suite 16 City, State, Zip: Aurora, CO 80011 The AC3 IABP (Intra-aortic Balloon Pump) is a professional use device that provides counter pulsation therapy to adult patients with impaired Left Ventricular (LV) Function. It provides hemodynamic support of blood pressure and reduced cardiac work through volume displacement principles. The AC3 Optimus Intro Aortic balloon from Arrow has several benefits that no other IABP in the market has.   A patented WAVE (Intra-Beat Timing) provides proper timing 16 of 16 beats with arrhythmic Ensures patient safety while maximizing augmentation. It allows the clinician to match the balloon size to the size of the patient s aorta and precisely size the balloon specific to each patient, ensuring the balloon is not too big.               No pneumatic replacement parts Statutory Authority Permitting Other than Full and Open Competition: 41 USC §3304(a)(5), 38 U.S. Code § 8127(c), as implemented by FAR 6.302-5 (Authorized or Required by Statute). COs may use the non-competitive (sole source) procedures authorized in VAAR 819.7008 (DEVIATION) or VAAR 819.7009 (DEVIATION) up to $5,000,000.
