- Description
- Statement of Work: Electric Gate Inspection and Repair USDA APHIS VS manages a bison quarantine facility at 772 Hwy 89 S and 1138 Hwy 89 S; Gardiner MT 59030. The facilities have automatic gates that are required to function properly for perimeter security. Background: The facilities house bison year-round and new electric gates were installed in 2022. The new gates have not functioned properly especially in winter months due to both electrical and mechanical issues. They have required to be hand opened or closed for periods of time which defeats the purpose of the automatic gate system. We will need inspection and troubleshooting to some degree as we may not know all of the causes of malfunction. Specifications: Work required will include: Locate for utilities. Trouble shoot electrical and mechanical issues for 4 gates. Lifting of the photo eyes to get them higher. For example; one of the photo eyes is inline with the chain and the chain blocks the photo beam at times. Excavate the ground where the gates open. The gates are very close to ground level and when the snow and ice buildup, the gates stop as the gates run into the snow and ice. Excavate to give more clearance; would like to have 12 of clearance under the gates. Raising of gates is also an option to gain clearance. The 120 V conduit may need to be buried deeper. Irrigation line that is located in the area may need excavated and reburied. Add a photo eye to one of the gates at 1138 Hwy 89 S. The system has been previously wired around so that it will work without the photo eye. Welding of any parts that need adjusting on gates or support posts. Use high quality galvanized materials for durability or gates, and appropriate steel parts where necessary. Confirm electrical lines and breakers are appropriate and functioning. If options are available for a back-up system (hard wired electricity vs. 12 volt battery back-ups) explore functionality/install secondary system(s). Test systems/equipment to ensure all systems are functioning within operating specifications. Cleanup worksite and removal of waste. Delivery and Order Requirements: Due to weather conditions and supply chain delays, we expect construction to be intermittent with final delivery due Oct 1,2024. Contractor responsible for providing and installing all materials other than what is already onsite. Electricity is on site. Schedule a walk thru with POC for bidding purposes. Port-a-Potty on site for contractor use All questions come thru the Contracting Officer: Todd K.
