Description
USAID/Senegals Sahel Regional Office (SRO) was established in 2013 to implement USAIDs new resilience initiative in the Sahel - Resilience in the Sahel Enhanced (RISE). The SRO Office supports transformational development to increase the resilience of chronically vulnerable people, households, communities, and systems in targeted agropastoral and marginal agriculture livelihood zones, and to prevent violent extremism in the Sahel. The SRO Office provides programmatic and technical support to Burkina Faso, Chad, Mauritania, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Cabo Verde. The SRO Office includes the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance West Africa Regional Office, which oversees assistance efforts in 20 countries across the region. The SRO seeks the services of a Regional Development Outreach and Communications Advisor (RDOC/A). The RDOC/A will be based in the SRO Office of the USAID/Senegal Mission and will report to the Sahel Regional Program Office Director. S/he will have extensive interaction with the bilateral DOC, the USAID/Senegal Deputy Mission Director, the U.S. Embassies Public Information Officers (PIO) and the Public Affairs Officers (PAO) in the region, the regional DOC in the West Africa Mission in Accra, Ghana, and USAID Country Representatives and Country Program Managers in Chad, Mauritania, and Burkina Faso, The Gambia, and embassy staff in Guinea Bissau, and Cabo Verde. S/he will also routinely interact with the Agencys Legislative and Public Affairs Bureau (LPA) in Washington (USAID/W), and the Africa Bureau. The RDOC/A will serve as lead communicator for all regional and country office (referring to limited and non-presence countries) activities supported by the SRO Office including the dissemination of information about USAIDs activities to educate and promote a better understanding of USAID programs to both internal U.S. government and external public audiences. S/he will share the broad responsibility of working with the Front Office, Program Officers, Country Program Managers, and USAID Representatives in Chad, Burkina Faso, and Mauritania and The Gambia; U.S. embassy staff in Bissau, and Cabo Verde; and will also work with a multitude of implementing partners throughout the region to formulate and present public relations materials to target audiences (internal and external) that convey USAIDs work and successes in the Sahel. S/he should also be expert in USAIDs branding and marking regulations to ensure that all USAID staff and implementing partners fully comply with the regulations. S/he should also be able to assist with population and maintenance of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and Flickr, and USAIDs websites that cover regional and country office programming managed and or supported by the SRO.
