- Description
- The Government intends to award a Firm Fixed-Price purchase order, using the Ordering Procedures for Federal Supply Schedules for supplies or services, under FAR Part 8.405 for the purchase of: OO-2024-123286 OEMS-DIG-Acquisition of Collection Storage Fixtures Phase I&II.The FDA History Office is federally mandated to preserve historical records and objects, including bound books, manuscripts, and artifacts that document aspects of the FDAs history. These ever-expanding collections have exceeded the capacity of their current storage configuration, yet they must remain in their current locations. In order to maximize efficiency of these spaces and the preservation of the objects, the History Office requires a series of museum-quality artifact cabinets to securely store oversized artifacts. Vendor Questions)./Responses 1. What are the names of the current oversized artifacts cabinets in use by your agency at this moment? Does your agency have photos it can share of the current cabinets in use. Response: We currently have two brands of cabinets. The older cabinets are Interior brand steel cabinets, and the newer are Delta. 2. How many additional artificacts are in your agency's possession that need to be placed in an artificact cabinet. Response We are anticipating relocating the agencys entire collection into newer, more artifact- and user-friendly cabinets, so that means several thousand objects. We do not expect to accomplish that with this particular contract, but we do expect to make the best use of the space within each cabinet that we can, hence the importance to be able to adjust the positions of the drawers and the shelves. 3. Can you provide CAD drawings of both spaces. Response First, the cabinets in question will go in either one of two spaces. If OFEMS identifies space in White Oak they will go there. However, the space planning for the campus is still in progress and FDA doesnt know when that will be completed, certainly no time soon. Thus, FDA cant provide a drawing of that space. Second, if the cabinets cannot be installed in White Oak then they will need to be delivered to the Wilkins Avenue warehouse in Rockville, MD. This would be a storage space for an indeterminate amount of time. FDA is not in a position to provide a CAD drawing of the warehouse, but there will be no problem encountered should the Vendor need to deliver the cabinets there. This is a standard warehouse with a functional dock for delivered and ample space to unpack the cabinets to ensure they are in working order. 4. Question regarding further specifications on size and quantity of the cabinets to assist in meeting the requirements. Response. All specifications are in the RFQ.
