Description
Notice Number: 145027240055SM Notice Type: Sources Sought Synopsis Title: HYDRO-BIOS Apparatebau GmbH Titanium Array Multi-Sediment Traps Response Date: June 10, 2024 This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS and is not a pre-solicitation announcement. The purpose of this Market Research and Sources Sought Notice is to gain knowledge of potential qualified U.S. Domestic businesses, which could include Small Business, HUBZone, 8(a), Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Women Owned Small Business firms and even Large Businesses. Responses to this Sources Sought Synopsis will be used by the Government in making appropriate acquisition decisions. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) works collaboratively with the Alaska Ocean Observing System, NOAAs Arctic Research Program and the Distributed Biological Observatory (DBO) international collaboration program to understand and quantify the changes occurring in the US Arctic. The DBO is a unique researcher-driven establishment of a series of study regions in the US Arctic to monitor and quantify the changes occurring, occupied by national and international entities with shared survey methods and data plan. NOAA PMEL has participated in the DBO program since its inception and leads dedicated annual surveys to select sites each Fall. The HYDRO-BIOS Apparatebau GmbH Titanium Array Multi-Sediment Traps are already in use in the DBO program, and utilizing the same sediment trap provides the necessary continuity for all study regions. INTENDED USE/PURPOSE: The multi sediment trap has been designed for autonomous operation in lakes, continental shelf and aquatic environments with relatively high vertical particulate flux value. The instrument does not need heavy moorings and can be easily deployed and recovered from smaller vessels. The cylinder of the sampling device is equipped with a dismountable buffle grid at the opening to avoid washing out of the sediment from the upper part of the cylinder. The inside is completely metal-free. The trap is small, light-weight, in a solid titanium frame, and collects 24 samples. A multi-sediment trap like the HYDRO-BIOS Apparatebau GmbH Titanium Array Multi-Sediment Trap is the only product capable of providing the needed data in the US Arctic region for this collaborative program.
