Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Pricepurchase order to Illumina, Inc. on a sole source basis. In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the Contractor is the only known responsible source who can provide the services for the requirement listed below. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that the NIH, National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) intends to issue a purchase order to Illumina, Inc. (referred to hereafter as Illumina) to acquire its maintenance and support silver service plan for a NextSeq 2000 Sequencing System. A support service plan is required because the instrument is used as a central resource by the NIDCDs laboratories and must always be operational. The NextSeq 2000 is currently used for whole transcriptome, exome sequencing, and have the potential to be used in target and de nova genome sequencing. The flexibility of these machines allows for standardizing the library preparation process to reduce training disparities and poor library reliability. No other company or service provider is known to have the unique knowledge and equipment required to support, maintain, and service the instrument. The NextSeq 2000 is a highly specialized instrument and is sold and serviced only by lllumina, Inc. All on-going experiments that use the NextSeq 2000 instrument are time sensitive and any disruption in service could compromise the research data. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any party that believes it can fulfill the requirement as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates the ability to satisfy the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately five (5) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another company has the capability to satisfy this requirement. Responses to this notice must have the notice ID #SS-NIH-6969920 in the subject line of the email. Please email responses to zetherine.gore@nih.gov no later than 12 p.m. EST on Friday, June 7, 2024.
