Description
Notice of Intent Solicitation #: N00173-24-RFI-MB19 Procurement Type: Pre-Solicitation Date Posted: 7-June-2024 Title: Procurement of Aixtron Inc Coupled Showerhead Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCS MOCVD) System Classification Code: 66 Instruments & Laboratory Equipment PSC: 6695 NAICS Code: 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing Response Date: 14-June-2024 Primary POC: Michael Broomfield Description: This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. This is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available and telephone requests will not be honored. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This is for a new acquisition from Aixtron Inc for a firm fixed price Purchase Order to acquire a Close-Coupled Showerhead Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCS MOCVD) System for deposition of two dimensional (2D) materials such as graphene, boron nitride and transition metal dichalcogenide materials and their heterostructures onto semiconductor wafers such as sapphire and silicon. In addition, the MOCVD technology is used for deposition of III-V compound semiconductors such as GaN that may allow for future 2D/III-V compunds material integration. This will allow for development of new materials and may open new application opportunities. The proposed Purchase Order is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 13.501. Aixtron CCS MOCVD system provides unprecedented capabilities for process control and demonstrated direct 2D materials growth on silicon and sapphire substrates. Deposition of high quality two dimensional (2D) materials such as graphene, boron nitride and transition metal dichalcogenide materials and their heterostructures onto semiconductor wafers such as sapphire and silicon is a unique capability demonstared solely by the Aixtro system. Typically, 2D materials are grown on Cu foils and a transfer process to silicon and sapphire is required. The transfer introduces defects and deteriorates materials' properties. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which shall be considered by the agency. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed Purchase Order based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No reimbursement for any cost connected with providing capability information will be provided. Please reference this Notice of Intent number onyour correspondence and in the subject line of your e-mail. IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR INTERESTED PARTIES: There are no commitments by the Government to issue any solicitations, make any award or awards, or to be responsible for any monies expended by any interested parties before award of a contract modification for the efforts mentioned above. Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for award of a contract. No telephone responses will be accepted. Point of contact for this synopsis is Michael Broomfield.
