Description
Analog Information Barrier (aIB) for Radiation Spectrometry An innovative hardware-based analog information barrier designed to securely transmit non-sensitive radiation data while safeguarding sensitive information. The Challenge: In the intricate world of nuclear spectrometry, the delicate balance between acquiring necessary data and protecting sensitive information is paramount. Historically, digital barriers have tried to safeguard this confidential data, but complexities in authentication have posed significant challenges. Addressing this issue, the newly developed Analog Information Barrier (aIB) introduces a robust, hardware-based solution, enhancing security in nuclear arms control and treaty verification. How it Works: The Analog Information Barrier (aIB) is a hardware solution developed for use with radiation spectrometry equipment. It aims to facilitate the secure transfer of non-sensitive radiation data to analysts, ensuring that sensitive information is not accessible. This technology is pivotal for nuclear security applications, particularly in arms control and treaty verification, with a focus on gamma-ray spectrometry. The aIB employs discrete nuclear instrumentation module electronics, offering a simple, transparent, and easily authenticated solution for managing sensitive nuclear information. Key Advantages: Simplified Verification: With no digital components, the aIB is inherently easier to authenticate and inspect, streamlining compliance processes. Enhanced Security: Ensures sensitive data is reliably contained within controlled environments, preventing any unauthorized access. Operational Transparency: Utilizes commercially available components, allowing for open inspection and straightforward understanding of the system. Customizable Integrity: Offers the ability to tailor component selection and testing, ensuring adaptability to specific security needs. Continuous Knowledge: Maintains a consistent record of the systems integrity from initial setup, crucial for long-term security commitments. Problems Solved Prevents sensitive data from reaching unauthorized digital platforms. Addresses the challenge of authenticating and certifying digital information barriers in treaty negotiations. Supports the secure verification of nuclear materials without revealing sensitive information. Market Applications Arms Control and Treaty Verification: Ideal for government bodies or international organizations like the IAEA, ensuring that only non-sensitive data is processed during treaty verifications. Secure Data Management: Suitable for proprietary contexts where data sensitivity is paramount, such as in specialized quality assurance assessments. Educational and Research Facilities: Can be utilized in academic settings for teaching and research purposes where data security is a concern but full spectrum analysis is not necessary. Development Status: TRL 4 US Provisional Patent Application No. 63/624,213, ANALOG INFORMATION BARRIER (AIB) FOR RADIATION SPECTROMETRY, BEA Docket No. BA-1530 INL Tech Partnerships: Your Gateway to Innovation INL offers strategic access to proprietary technology, enhancing small business growth and contributing to economic and public advancement.
