Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District intends to solicit a fixed price contract for repairs to the Drift Collection Vessel (DCV) Driftmaster. The solicitation will reference brand name paint products. The identified brand/manufacturer items or proprietary specifications are intended to be examples for a basis of design, and the paints and brands listed are not to be construed as favored over or excluding others. Colors Colors shall match the existing colors on the vessel and shall conform to the Federal Colorchip numbers shown below.� AMS Standard 595A, 1 Feburary, 2018 defines the appearance of the colors associated with each colorchip number shown below.� References below (such as �red� or �black�) not associated with a specific colorchip number shall be associated with a specific colorchip number shown elsewhere in this section for that color. 1.� Hull above waterline, Caprail, bulwarks, and undersides of catwalks: Black, similar or equal to Federal Colorchip numbers 17038 (gloss or 27038 (semi-gloss)). 2.� Decks: Deck Red, similar or equal to AMS-STD-10076 (gloss or a like colored semigloss. (Deck paint applied to any deck or walking surface shall have an environmentally compliant non-skid additive added to the final coat in amounts recommended by the paint manufacturer). 3.� Outboard of 01 deck coaming and outboard trim strips of caprail and sunshield and stack band: Red, similar or equal to Federal Colorchip number 11136 (gloss). 4.� Underside of sunshield: Any dark green lusterless paint in two (2) coats over the old ivory of (3) above subject to the approval of the COR. 5.� Identification and Draft markings: White similar or equal to Federal Colorchip number 17875 (gloss). 6.� Hull Below Water Line: Any red, dark red, dark green, dark blue or black anti-fouling subject to the approval of the COR. Paints Paints listed below are acceptable under these specifications.� The paints and brands on this list are not to be construed as favored over or excluding others.� The Contractor shall submit a list of paints to be used to the COR for approval prior to the start of painting.� Color references below (such as �red� and �black�) in these specifications refer to the color definitions in TP 1.04-c above.� The abbreviation �dft� below means �dry film thickness�. 1.� Base Coat: Primer, all sandblasted (Near White metal areas): Sherwin-Williams Company: Zinc Plate, 3 mils dft International Paint: Interplate II, 3 mils dft Devoe Coatings: Formula 201 Buff, 3 mils dft PPG Protective & Marine Coatings:� Dimetcote 302 H, 3 mils dft 2.� First Coat: Primer, all areas: Sherwin-Williams Company: Duraplate 235 Buff, 4 mils dft International Paint: FPL 274/FPA 327 epoxy primer, red oxide, 5 mils dft Devoe Coatings: Formula 201 Buff, 4 mils dft PPG Protective & Marine Coatings:� Amercoat 235 Buff, 5 mils dft 3.� Second Coat: Anti-Corrosive, all areas: Sherwin-Williams Company: Duraplate 235 Black, two (2) coats, 5 mils dft each International Paint: FPY999/FPA327 epoxy anti-corrosive plus a second coat of FPL 274, 5 mils dft each Devoe Coatings: Formula 230 Black, two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each PPG Protective & Marine Coatings:� Amercoat 235 Buff, 5 mils dft 4.� Third Coat: Finish, below water line: Sherwin-Williams Company: Antifouling 121 Red, two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each International Paint: BRA series 570 Red Copolymer anti-fouling, two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each. Devoe Coatings: Formula 214 anti-fouling, two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each PPG Protective & Marine Coatings:� Amercoat 214 Anti-fouling Red two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each 5.� Third Coat: Finish, above waterline: Sherwin-Williams Company: Armortile B67B-100 (hull) or B67-100 (other), 3 mils dft International Paint: ES acrylic epoxy, 2 mils dft Devoe Coatings: Formula 229 Finish Epoxy, 3 mils dft PPG Protective & Marine Coatings:� Amercoat 229T Gloss Epoxy Acrylic Topcoat, 3 mils dft 6.� Trim: Sherwin Williams Company: Steel Master, 2 mils dft International Paint: ES Acrylic epoxy, 2 mils dft Devoe Coatings: Formula 229 Finish Epoxy, 2 mils dft PPG Protective & Marine Coatings:� Amercoat 229T Gloss Epoxy Acrylic Topcoat, 2 mils dft This is not a formal solicitation or request for proposal.
