- Join Us on August 15, 2024 at 10:00AM Eastern Time for a Job Corps Outreach Event! Greetings: A Job Corps virtual outreach event will be held on August 15, 2024.� The event is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of the Senior Procurement Executive (OSPE), Job Corps Acquisition Services (JCAS). �This event is free of charge to all participants and will be virtual. Background/Overview: �Job Corps is a residential and non-residential training program that serves youth ages 16 to 24 with Job Corps Centers throughout the nation. �Job Corps provides comprehensive career development services to students including academic, career technical, career success and independent living skills, career readiness training, and support services.� The unique combination of services provided in Job Corps is intended to prepare youth to obtain and hold gainful employment, pursue further education or training, or satisfy entrance requirements for careers in the Armed Forces. Who Should Attend:� Any Large or Small business entities interested in learning about Service Contract Labor Standards or SCLS (formerly the Service Contract Act of 1965). �We will briefly discuss SCLS and its applicability to government contracts, to include wage determinations, as well as the conformance and indexing processes. DOL is especially interested in reaching entities in underserved communities, such as Black, Latino, Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and other persons of color, members of religious minorities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons, persons with disabilities, and persons who live in rural areas.� �� Benefits of Attending:� Attendees will gain a better understanding of SCLS, which should aid in the proposal development process if/when responding to government contract opportunities in support of the Job Corps Program and other government contract opportunities. Conference Location:� The Job Corps Outreach Day will be held virtually on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM Eastern Time.� An invite will be sent to all registered attendees prior to the event.� �� Registration Requirements:� All vendors are required to register for the event via email to: ETAOCM-JC-INDUSTRYDAY@dol.gov As part of the registration process, vendors must forward the following information: name, job title, business name and address, telephone number, and email address.� Registrants are also asked to identify if their firm is: Black owned Latino owned Owned by Indigenous or Native American persons Asian American or Pacific Islander owned Owned by a person of color (not included in categories above) Owned by a member of a religious minority Owned by a member of the LGBTQ+ community Owned by a person with a disability Owned by a person who live in a rural area None of the above Note:� AI bots and other recording devices (automated or otherwise) are not allowed to be used to record this event.
