Objective: To find sources that are qualified to meet the supplies/services as listed in section 11B. Note that the specific requirements in section C are subject to change prior to the release of any solicitation. B. Technical Specifications The Contractor shall provide One (1) Benchtop Scanning Electron Microscope capable of high-resolution imaging (350,000 times (X) magnification with greater than (<)10 resolution) and spectroscopic characterization via energy-dispersive spectroscopy, equipped with a secondary electron detector (SED) and a back-scattered electron detector (BSE). The Benchtop Scanning Electron Microscope shall have the following salient technical specifications: � Magnification range for a benchtop electron microscope: 160x - 350,000x magnification range � Maintenance free, high brightness electron source: CeB6 (Cerium Hexaboride) source life approx. 1,500-2,500 hours � Peltier-cooled/heated temperature control sample holders: -50�C - +50�C, which significantly reduces beam damage for the laboratory�s beam-sensitive samples (polymers, battery materials), and allows for imaging samples which may have some moisture/solvent. � The total pump down time from air to SEM image is <30 seconds (s). � Less than 8 nanometer (nm) resolution � Options for future upgrades (automated data processing and imaging applications which can improve workflow, and multiple stages available) C.
