Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to provide annual maintenance dredging of the Cape Fear River for commercial ship traffic to the Wilmington Port. Maintenance Dredging, Wilmington Harbor Mid-River, New Hanover & Brunswick Counties, North Carolina. The work consists of maintenance dredging of the Wilmington Harbor Inner Ocean Bar New Hanover County, North Carolina. The work consists of maintenance dredging of the Wilmington Harbor Anchorage Basin Wilmington, North Carolina and various channels around the Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point (MOTSU), Brunswick County, North Carolina. The maintenance dredging will require removal and disposal of shoaled material that has accumulated in the channels since they were last dredged. Ocean Certified Dredge is not required, but an Ocean Certified Scow is required. The Government furnished disposal area is the Wilmington Harbor Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). The dredging depth is 42' plus 2' of allowable over depth for Anchorage Basin. Dredging by mechanical dredge only (clamshell, dragline or dipper) will be allowed for the Anchorage Basin work. There is currently no environmental window for Anchorage Basin when using a mechanical dredge. The estimated quantity for Anchorage Basin is 600,000 to 800,000 Cubic Yards. The channels to be dredged at MOTSU are to be determined at a later date. There is an environmental window for dredging by mechanical or cutter suction pipeline dredge in the MOTSU basins and channels beginning 1 October and ending 30 June. The estimated quantity for the MOTSU channels is 500,000 to 700,000 Cubic Yards.
