Description
AGENCY: Department of the Army, Department of Defense. ACTION: Notice of intent to grant a partially exclusive license. SUMMARY: In compliance with Title 35, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 209 and Title 37, Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.), Section 404.7, the Department of the Army hereby gives notice of its intent to grant to BowerBags, LLC, of 729 North George Mason Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22203, a partially exclusive license to a DEVCOM Soldier Center invention. The invention to be licensed is U.S. Patent No. 9,700,122, issued on July 11, 2017 and titled Central Osteoarticular Relief and Performance Structured Load Distribution System Device and Modular Scalable Vest System. Anyone wishing to object to the granting of this license has 15 days to file written objections along with supporting evidence, if any. DATES: File written objections by October 1, 2024. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Sheri Mennillo, Office of Research and Technology Applications, DEVCOM Soldier Center, 10 General Greene Avenue, Natick, MA 01760, 508-206-3496, sheri.m.mennillo.civ@army.mil. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The prospective partially exclusive license may be granted unless within fifteen (15) days from the date of this published notice, DEVCOM Soldier Center receives written objections including evidence and argument that establish that the grant of the license would not be consistent with the requirements of Title 35, U.S.C., Section 209(e) and Title 37, C.F.R., Section 404.7(a)(1)(i). Competing applications completed and received by DEVCOM Soldier Center within fifteen (15) days from the date of this published notice will also be treated as objections to the grant of the contemplated partially exclusive license. Objections submitted in response to this notice will not be made available to the public for inspection and, to the extent permitted by law, will not be released under the Freedom of Information Act, Title 5, U.S.C., Section 552. Abstract of Patent: The present invention is a loadbearing device referred to as the Central Osteoarticular Relief and Performance Structured Load Distribution System (CORPS-LDS), which is worn by a user to help distribute the weight of a load being carried or borne by the user. More specifically, the weight is substantially shifted from the user's shoulders to their hips while not overly inhibiting the users range of motion. Furthermore, it is an aspect of the CORPS-LDS to distribute the weight being carried in a manner that reduces the strain on the spine and back while lessening the metabolic expenditure of the user. Moreover, the present invention is a protective vest system that utilizes the present inventions CORPS-LDS
