- Description
- The U.S. Army,?Army Contracting Command Picatinny, on behalf of the Project Manager Soldier Lethality (PM SL), located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is conducting a request for information to identify potential sources capable of providing the Galil Model SAR assault rifle with magazines (anticipated quantity of 5) and FN F2000 Assault Rifles with spare part kits (anticipated quantites 15 rifles and 5 spare parts kits). The Galil Model SAR is a gas operated, air cooled, magazine fed, selective fire assault rifle based on the Kalashnikov operating principle. The receiver is milled from solid steel. It was originally designed by Yisrael Galil and produced in Israel and later in other countries as well. The folding stock is tubular and folds to the right side of the rifle. The selector lever on the right side of the receiver is similar to Kalashnikov style selector levers and also acts as a dust cover for the ejection port when in the safe position. The Galil design also incorporates a selector next to the left side of the grip which can be engaged with a right-handed shooters thumb. The grip and handguard are typically polymer. The front sight is incorporated into the gas block and is a hooded post design. The post can be adjusted for elevation and the front sight base can be adjusted for windage. The rear sight is incorporated into the top (dust) cover and is a flip type aperture sight with markings for 0-300 meters (3) and for 300-500 meters (5).For the purposes of this market research, a SAR rifle built using a newly manufactured receiver and populated with used parts may be considered acceptable. The FN F2000 is a select-fire bullpup rifle chambered in 5.56 x 45 mm. The weapon is gas-operated and air-cooled and utilizes a short-stroke piston and rotating bolt. The rifle body is comprised of high-impact polymer. The rifle utilizes STANAG 30-round magazines. The weapon has a rubber gasket inside the magazine well to prevent dust/mud incursion. The rifles controls are completely ambidextrous. The fire-control selector is a rotary disc. The rifle ejects spent casings from the front of the weapon through a small ejection port. The barrel is chrome-lined and hammer forged and is threaded for an included muzzle device. The weapon is capable of accepting the FN GL1 40 mm underbarrel grenade launcher. Handguards are removable and made of polymer. The handguards can be completely replaced with a Picatinny tri-rail system. The rifle is equipped with a monolithic Picatinny rail and removable iron sights for user-configurable optical solutions or a magnified 1.6x optic enclosed in a polymer housing. For the purposes of this market research, multiple configurations are acceptable. The F2000 spare parts kit is defined as follows Description Qty Firing Pin 2 Switch (F484110020) 2 Cam Pin 2 Extractor 2 Extractor Spring 10 Extractor Retaining Pin 10 Ejector 2 Ejector Spring 10 Ejector Spring Retaining Pin 10 Recoil Spring 10 Cover (F482710020) 2 Spring Cover (F482720020) 10 Charging Handle 2 Buttpad 1 In responding to this Sources Sought Notice, respondents should provide the following information: A detailed description of your capability to deliver the above items.
