PURPOSE: The Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) requires the procurement of an automated nucleic acid extraction system to support continued in-house testing service for precision and personalized medicine. 2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS / SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: The contractor shall provide an automated nucleic acid extraction system capable of producing high quality Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) from a variety of specimen types. a) The instrument shall be fully automated while producing high yields of nucleic acid from formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens. b) The system must demonstrate Proven capabilities to process FFPE, tissues, blood, buccal swaps, saliva, and bone marrow to other extraction methods by producing large, intact nucleic acid fragments and high molecular tag coverage when applied to targeted capture based next generation sequencing panels documented in peer reviewed scientific literature. The associated literature needs to be included in your response. c) High throughput system that can process 96 or more specimens in a short duration of time. d) Open and flexible system allowing use of any magnetic particle-based kit to meet the application demands. e) Protocols already loaded into the system for extraction of a variety of specimens included but not limited to (FFPE) tissues, blood, buccal swaps, saliva, and bone marrow. f) Depth, height and weight not to exceed 27 x 24 x 15 in. (W x D x H) for placement and operation on standard laboratory benchtop. g) Consumable supplies to operate the purchased instrument for up to 500 nucleic acid extractions annually. h) We are seeking an instrument that is for research purposes and invitro diagnostic purposes. i) FFPE extraction shall be DNA and RNA. 3. DELIVERY OF SUPPLIES AND INSTALLATION: a) Delivery of supplies: All items purchased in the contract shall be delivered to Orlando VA Medical Center, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando FL 32827. b) Alert/Notification of delays in shipments as well as all technical advisory/recalls/alerts, prior to or simultaneously with field alerts shall be forwarded to the director of molecular diagnostics, lab chief, and the assigned VISN 8 contracting officer. c) Special handling for emergency orders of supplies: In the event that the consumables are found to be defective and unsuitable for use with the contractor s equipment, or the contractor has failed to comply with the requirements for routing supply delivery, the contractor is required to deliver the consumable supplies within 24 hours of receipt of a verbal order for priority deliver. If either circumstance has occurred, the contractor will deliver to the government site in the most expeditious manner possible without additional cost to the government. d) Installation: The Contractor shall install the equipment and demonstrate full functionality of the equipment.
