Description
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND: This is a Sources Sought (SS) being issued by the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), Armaments Center (AC), Munitions Engineering & Technology Center (METC), Fuze and Precision Armaments Directorate (FPAD), Precision Munitions Instrumentation Division (PMI-Div). This SS requests capability statements from potential contractors on their ability to manufacture and deliver various configurations of Pressure Transducers. Pressure transducers using piezo-resistive MEMS technologies operate by converting mechanical pressure into a proportional analog electrical signal. This conversion is achieved through the precise deformation of strain gauges, which are securely bonded to the diaphragm of the transducer. As pressure is applied to the diaphragm, the strain gauges undergo a corresponding physical deformation, resulting in a measurable change in electrical resistance. This change in resistance is then converted into a voltage signal, providing a direct and accurate representation of the applied pressure. Pressure Transducers play a crucial role in munition testing by measuring the pressure generated by a munition's explosive event, which typically yield ranges of 2,000 psi to 60,000 psi, with future armaments technologies estimated up to 100,000 psi. The data collected by pressure transducers is essential for ensuring the safe and effective development of munitions, as well as for optimizing their performance and reducing risks associated with their use. REQUIREMENTS: Responders to this SS notice are asked to provide capability statements with the following information: A narrative explaining the companies, and specific individuals, level of knowledge and experience related to manufacturing and delivery of various configurations of pressure transducers Information on delivery lead times and quantities (i.e. how long to deliver at what delivery capacity level). Listing of past contracts with the same work, or of similar magnitude. Describe the optimal production range breaks that allow for economies of scale to be realized by increasing production to the next higher quantity, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced costs to the USG. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE/CONTRACT TYPE The Government contemplates a five (5) year IDIQ contract. The anticipated contract type is Firm Fixed Price (FFP). NOTICE OF LIABILITY: This is not a formal solicitation. This is a SS for market research purposes. Any response to this SS is at the sole-discretion of the contractor. No remittance payment will be made for any information sent in response to this SS. Information submitted in response to this SS may be used for procurement planning purposes. Interested parties should be cognizant of the beta.sam.gov portal, and of the acquisition process to ensure responsiveness to any opportunities related to issuance of a formal solicitation. The website for Beta. Sam is as follows - https://sam.gov/. At this time, a formal solicitation is not definitive. All responses to this SS shall be unclassified. ADMINISTRATIVE: Request that all responses include the following information: Full Company Name (Legal Entity): Cage Code: Website (if applicable): Contact Information: Business Size Status. If small, what type of concern? The point of contact for response is Mark P. Zator, DEVCOM AC, METC, FPAD, and Procurement Coordinator. Email address is: mark.zator.civ@mail.mil. Phone is: 973-724-8121. .
