Description
The Department of the Army is pleased to announce the availability of a cutting-edge software framework designed to enhance the capabilities of Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems. This framework enables the SDR signal chain to dynamically adjust its capabilities based on the sensed RF environment and to respond at the protocol level in real-time. The Department of the Army is releasing this software framework to foster collaboration with industry partners and encourage the integration of this technology into their SDR products. The intent is to enable greater flexibility in conducting radio frequency operations, allowing industry partners to leverage this framework to enhance their SDR systems' adaptability and operational effectiveness. By providing this framework, we aim to advance the state of SDR technology and promote innovation in the field of radio frequency operations. Key Features of the Framework: Rapid Reconfiguration: The framework allows for swift reconfiguration of the RF signal processing chain modules within the SDRs field programmable gate array (FPGA), ensuring adaptability to varying operational requirements. FPGA-Based Physical Layer (PHY) and Media Access Control (MAC): The framework enables the rapid development and implementation of a fully-customized PHY and MAC layer that supports various signals and waveforms, providing a comprehensive solution for SDR applications. Elements Available for Industry: FPGA Top-Level Framework: This top-level hardware description language (HDL) framework resides within the SDR FPGA, facilitating seamless communication between the General-Purpose Processor (GPP) and the signal modules. Application Programming Interface (API): A user-friendly, common C-based API is provided, allowing developers to create SDR-agnostic applications that can manipulate the programmed signal FPGA modules effectively. Transport Interface (TI): The TI consists of dynamic or static C libraries utilized during application builds, enabling efficient message transport to and from user-based applications and FPGA signal modules. Exemplar Data Generation/Consumption Module: This module serves as a testing tool for hardware-specific implementations of the framework, ensuring compatibility and performance validation. Documentation: Comprehensive documentation will be made available, including development environment guides and a developer's guide, to assist industry partners in effectively utilizing the framework. The Department of the Army encourages industry partners to engage with this innovative framework, which is expected to significantly advance the capabilities of SDR technology. The Government retains all rights of modifications made to the original framework. To access this software interested parties shall complete the attached Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) (Attachment 1). Individuals identified as contractor representatives/users pursuant to signed/complete NDAs may then create an account on Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) to access the codebase. A step-by-step guide for creating a TRMC account and accessing the repository is included in Attachment 2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE NDA: An authorized representative of each contractor organization is to complete the following steps to ensure the NDA is processed correctly: Complete all fields on page 1. Complete and sign as the ""Recipients Authorized Representative"" on page 4. Complete the fields for the ""Requesting Organization Authorized POC"" on page 5. Sign the acknowledgement on page 5 and identify all contractor users from the company they represent. Obtain signatures from all authorized users identified on page 5. Return the completed NDA to the Warped Alloy Management Team at usarmy.meade.7-sig-cmd.mbx.warped-alloy-software@mail.mil for final completion and signature of fields on page 6. For additional information or questions, please reach out using the contact information below. For inquiries, please send an email to the Warped Alloy Management Team at usarmy.meade.7-sig-cmd.mbx.warped-alloy-software@mail.mil Thank you for your attention to this exciting opportunity.
