Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to fulfil a potential requirement. The responses received from interested contractors will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Network Contracting Office (NCO) 20, is conducting market research to identify potential sources for: Gamma Detection System (GDS) Control Units. Brand name or equal to Neoprobe 2400 (GDS) Control Units, Including Software manufactured by Devicore Medical Products, Inc. The Portland VAMC requires Quantity Description Manufacturer Part Number 2 Neoprobe 2400 GDS Control Unit, Including Software NPCU4 The Gamma Detection system (GDS) detects the presence of gamma rays emitted from radioactive isotopes in body organs or tissue. The system provides both a visual indicator (count bar) and audible indicator (an increasing or decreasing sound that varies in pitch) as the level of gamma radioactivity increases or decreases. Gamma Probe Salient Characteristics: The Neoprobe Gamma Detection system (GDS) console (Model# NPCU4) with Bluetooth wireless technology, detects the presence of gamma rays emitted from radioactive isotopes in body organs or tissue. The system provides both a visual indicator (count bar) and audible indicator (an increasing or decreasing sound that varies in pitch) as the level of gamma radioactivity increases or decreases. Portland VA currently has one Bluetooth cordless probe with collimator that is sterilizable (model# 1100-03307 with collimator tip model# 1013) and two unsterile corded probes with collimator (model# NPR14 with collimator model# NPE14 and cord model# MPA76). We are required to have two Gamma Detection system (GDS) consoles for when we have two surgeons operating at the same time due to two services using this system (General surgery and ENT). The GDS is used for intraoperative lymphatic mapping, parathyroidectomy and other clinical applications to target radiolabeled tissues. Detecting gamma radiation with a hand-held probe is based on the inverse law of physics, which allows detection of radiation emitted from a small source. Placing the probe close to a radioactive site increases the number of counts detected and localization occurs on the console. The console displays visual information and data on the LED screen in liquid crystal fonts. The console does not require sterilization. However, it must be capable of being disinfected with a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning wipe such as Oxivir . Potential candidates having the capabilities necessary to provide the above stated requirement are invited to respond to this Request for Information via e-mail to Gregory Watson at Gregory,Watson2@va.gov no later than 20 January 2026, 06:00 PST. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. RESPONSES SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: company name, address, and business size; point of contact name, phone number, e-mail address. NAICS Code 339112 is applicable to determine business size standard. Any questions or concerns may also be directed to Gregory Watson via e-mail.
