- Fort Campbell requires an expedited procurement of 1,350 tons of road salt to restore critical safety stocks depleted by continuous 24-hour deicing operations during the severe 14-day winter storm event from January 24 to February 6, 2026. The persistent sub-freezing temperatures (lows in the single digits) and recurring precipitation required high-frequency applications of sodium chloride to maintain primary routes, emergency access to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH), and mission-essential airfield surfaces.Bulk Road Salt
