965-8789 Notice of Intent to place an order against an ADP Schedule
Contract. The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to place an
order with Government Micro Resources against their fiscal year 1995
GSA/ADP Schedule Contract. This order will be for the purchase of
telephone response units (TRUs) - a TDD network for the deaf. General
requirements state that the TRU equipment shall be of the latest design
and in current production. The TRU equipment shall be installed,
operational and supported in Baltimore, MD. The TRU equipment must be
capable of passing through TDD ASCII calls on a 24-hour basis. The
proposed TRU equipment must satisfy the following general requirements:
Automated call processing system, easy accessibility for TDD users,
display language specifically for deaf community, permit easy update
and changes by the customer and provide statistical data and printouts
of usage reports, prompts and menu options. Technical requirements
include: capacity to interface with customer PBX on 800# network,
process incoming and outgoing TDD signals, handle multiple callers
requesting information simultaneously, provide pre-recorded
informational messages, present different menu options, caller to
access options using single digit commands, provide script and prompts
for TDD users, allow callers to by-pass menu options and transfer to
live employee, provide automatic routing, and retrieve pre-recorded
messages. Personnel training must be provided on-site for personnel at
Baltimore and SSA requires five (5) sets of manufacturer-printed user
manuals. The system should include two (2) 486DX computers consisting
of - 1.44MB floppy disk drive, printer, keyboard, modem, remote
diagnostics, remote administrator; telephone interface cards (4 each),
four port; color monitor (2 ea); call processing system software - 8
port software program (2 each); equal access assistive device products
- 2 each ultrasilent TDD software and 2 each ultrasilent workstation
with dictionary; 2 each system peripherals/ancillary items - 20 minute
battery backup; and multi-user services/integration and installation.
Government Micro Resources is the only known source capable of
providing this product. All responses from responsible sources will be
fully considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis
of intent, the contracting officer may determine that a solicitation
will be issued. If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis
will be published. Any such solicitation will be issued to the intended
schedule vendor and all firms that respond to this synopsis of intent
or otherwise request a copy of the solicitation. Other organizations
possessing the required expertise and resources are invited to submit
information as to their capabilities, previous relevant experience,
pricing data and any other pertinent data within 15 days of this
announcement. This is not a request for proposals. Requests for copies
of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government
