PREVIOUS ADVERTISEMENT (12/7/94) The United States Postal Service
intends to award a contract for architect-engineer services for
remodeling of the exterior and the interior of the Georgetown Station
in Washington, D.C. The Georgetown Station, formerly a U.S. Custom
House, is a 12,083 square foot building erected around 1858 that is
eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. It is
architecturally significant under National Register C, as a
representative sysle of Federal design. Part of the work required is
restoration of the exterior of the building. Part of the interior
remodeling will consist of the establishment of a Postal Store.
Architect-Engineering firms which meet the requirements described in
this announcement are invited to submit: (1) a standard form 254,
Architect-Engineer and related services questionnaire. They must also
submit a completed and current SF-wtr for each of their consultants;
(2) a standard form 255, Architect-Engineer and related services
questionnaire for specific project. Interested firms with more than one
office must indicate on their SF-255 the staffing composition of the
office in which the work will be performed; (3) any supplemental data.
All submissions must be received on or before January 17, 1995. the
selection criteria will include previous United States Postal Service
experience or similar type of projects. Consideration will be given to
interested firms who respond to this advertisement in accordance with
the foregoing instruction in the following order of preference: (1)
Firms located in the Washington, DC area; (2) Firms located within a
25-mile radius of the facility; (3) Firms located within the states of
Virginia and Maryland. The minimum staffing requirement of the primary
firm is 8 with the following number of registered professions,
including consultants: 3 architects, 1 structural engineer, 1 civil
engineer, 1 electrical engineer and 1 mechanical engineer. There is no
restriction on the geographical location of the consultants. The
contract contains a requirement for firms to provide evidence of
current Errors and Omissions Insurance coverage for at least $200,000
per claim. The number of current and recent contracts with the Postal
Service an individual can have is a maximum of any 2 contracts. Recent
contract means any one previous design contract than was completed
less than one year from 3/15/95. In the case of large firms with branch
offices in several cities, the current or recent contract criterion
will apply only to the branch office that is applying for the project
under evaluation. It is prohibited to pay any fee, commission,
percentage or brokerage fee to any person or firm contingent upon on
resulting from an award of a contract for these services. Submissions
will not be retained or returned. Participation of qualified minority
business enterprises is a consideration in United States Postal
Service's architect-engineer selections. No other general notification
of this project will be made. This is not a request for a proposal.
