Fitzsimons Army Medical Center has a requirement for registered nurses to supplement staff in the Surgical Intensive Care, Medical Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units during high peak times of need. This support is to be provided under a personal services requirements contract with malpractice insurance provided by the government. The estimated number of hours for each critical care area is 400 hours which encompass day (6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.), evening (2:45 p.m. - 11:15 p.m.), and night (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) shifts. Alternative shift times may be used upon mutual agreement of both parties. A schedule will be provided to the contractor two weeks in advance delineating the required shifts and areas to be worked. In addition to providing scheduled coverage, the contractor shall be required to provide emergency coverage upon two hours notice when unforeseen circumstances cause a change in the workload. The period of performance is to be April 1, 1995, or date of award if later, through March 31, 1996, with four one-year option periods. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued o/a January 24, 1995, with proposals due 30 calendar days after actual date of issuance. This solicitation is unrestricted.
