212/668-3477. Provide all labor, material and equipment necessary for
the Dockside Repairs to the USCGC Laurel. Work for these Dockside
repairs is to be performed at the vessel's homepier. The work which may
be performed includes but may not be limited to the following definite
items: 1. Inspect, Overhaul, Test Weight Handling Equipment 2.
Overhaul and Weight Test Shipboard Davit Crane (Allied Marine
Crane-Model Davit 5000) 3. Overhaul and Test Dual Point Boat Davit 4.
Overhaul Anchor(s) and Anchor Chain(s) 5. Perform Inclining Experiment
6. Modify Sea Ark Boat Cradle Boat Davit 7. Preserve Buoy Deck 8.
Renew Watertight Door 9. Preserve Chain Locker 10. Temporary Logistics.
Proposed contract will also contain optional items including, but not
limited to: 1. Welding Repairs 2. Renew Additional Watertight Doors 3.
Six-link Measurement 4. Ultrasonic Testing 5. Additional Temporary
Logistics--USCGC Laurel's Homeport is Mayport, FL. Vessel is 180 Feet
in Length. USCGC Laurel's Availability Schedule is 24 April 1995. There
will be a non-refundable charge required in the form of a certified
check or money order made payable to the U.S. Coast Guard in the amount
of $100.00 for requested drawings and publications. The proposed
contract listed here is part of the Small Business Competitiveness
Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small businesses.
Plans and specifications will be issued on or after 18 January 1995.
All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by
the United States Coast Guard. For Minority, Women-owned and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has
programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged businss
enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding
assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available
under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates
up to $500,000 per contract to provide accounts receivable financing.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
performance and payment bonds up to $500,000 per contract. DOT provides
an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
