58 -- PANASONIC MODEL RN-36 MICROCASSETTE RECORDERS (BRAND NAME OR EQUAL) SOL 6732 POC Karen L. Smith, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-8808. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a requirement for an indefinite quantity type contract with a guaranteed minimum quantity of (300) Panasonic (brand name or equal) model RN-36 microcassette recorders. This contract is for 12 months with four one-year renewal options. The FBI intends to issue a brand name or equal solicitation for the above items. Minimum salient characteristics for the Panasonic (brand name or equal) model RN-36 microcassette recorders shall include but are not limited to: (1) Dimensions of the recorder shall not exceed 2 1/8'' x 3 3/8'' x 9/16''. (2) The recorder shall have a remote capability for external usage of a miniature microphone. The microphone shall be electret. (3) The recorder shall be able to be placed into record remotely by a remote cable. (4) The remote cabling for the microphone and remote switch shall be highly flexible. (5) The recorder shall have a DC bias and a permanent magnet type erase to provide greater TEMPEST security. (6) The recorder shall not have an internal speaker. (7) The recorder shall be powered by one each AA battery or smaller and be guaranteed of recording for the entire length of the tape used. (8) The recorder shall have a frequency response of 200-6000Hz at a transport speed of 15/16 ips. (9) The recorder shall have an external, separate speaker with battery saver for subsequent review of the recording. The recorder shall have a monitor jack to accommodate the external speaker or miniature headphone. For specific details request RFP-6732. RFP is to be issued approximately 01/31/95. Request for a solicitation package must be in writing and postmarked no later than fifteen (15) calendar days from date of this notice. Any request postmarked after the 15 days will be subject to the availability of solicitation packages. No telephone requests will be honored.
