COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 11,1995 PSA#1260U. S. Postal Service, Headquarters, Automation Purchasing 8403 Lee
Highway, Merrifield, Virginia 22082-8150 99 -- 99--AUTO-RECIRCULATING CARRIER SEQUENCE BAR CODE SORTER POC Don
Anderson, Purchasing Specialist, (703) 280-7805 Franklin Miles,
Contracting Officer, (703) 280-7812. The U. S. Postal Service is
seeking qualified contractors to continue development and production
engineering tasks for the USPS developed bar code sorting machine, the
auto-recirculating CSBCS (Carrier Sequence Bar Code Sorter). Given a
prototype technical data package (TDP), the transfer of technology, and
mandatory changes, the successful offeror(s) will develop
produceability changes, develop diagnostic software, and manufacture
two production machines which represent the mirrow image of the
existing design. This effort shall also result in the delivery of a
production baseline TDP. The successful outcome of this program may
lead to a production contract to replace or supplement future
procurements of delivery sequence sorters. At this time the U. S.
Postal Service contemplates multiple awards for this effort. Interested
companies with development/manufacturing capabilities are required to
submit a letter of interest to the USPS contracting officer not later
than February 03, 1995. The letter of interest will be the basis for
inviting firms to a future pre-solicitation conference and solicitation
if issued by the USPS. No additional announcement regarding this
procurement will be made. Companies wishing to view an ARCS prototype
machine prior to submitting a letter of interest should contact the
contracting officer to set up an appointment. (0009) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0445 19950110\99-0008.SOL)
