COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 11,1995 PSA#1260Bureau of Reclamation, Contract Services Team, Code D-7813, Den Fed
Cntr, PO Box 25007, Denver CO 80225 J -- HARDWARE MAINTENANCE SERVICES CYBER 875 MAINFRAME SOL
1425-5-SP-81-20210 POC Contact Ray Lewis, Contracting Officer,
303/236-8040, ext. 246 Concerns having the ability to furnish the
following services are requested to give written notification,
including a telephone number for a POC to the acquisition office listed
in this notice within 45 calendar days from the date of synopsis. The
Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) has a requirement for Hardware
Maintenance Services for the Reclamation-owned Control Data Systems
Cyber 875 mainframe. The contract basic period of performance will be
for the balance of the current fiscal year, approximately six months,
which ends September 30, 1995, with one additional option period of
four months for a total contract performance period of ten months. It
is anticipated at the end of the current fiscal year Reclamation will
retire the Control Data Cyber 875 mainframe. It is Reclamation's belief
that Control Data Systems Inc., 4201 Lexington Avenue North, Arden
Hills, MN 55126-6198 is the only firm available that is capable of
providing this service. Due to the proprietary nature of the systems
hardware, its integrated software and firmware, Reclamation has relied
heavily on Control Data Systems, Inc. The incumbent Control Data staff
is extremely familiar with the current site specific Cyber operating
environment at Reclamation, including the Tape Reservation System (TRS)
data bases, special system archiving software, data communication
software and networks unique to Reclamation and interfaces to other
mainframes located in Denver. The highly specialized knowledge and
skills from the Control data staff have been significant in allowing
Reclamation to provide over 98% system availability to the user
community. The current contractor has the proven skills and knowledge
required to complete all remaining projects prior to retirement of the
Cyber 875 mainframe. This is not a formal solicitation. However,
concerns that respond shall provide detailed data concerning their
capabilities and may request to receive a copy of the solicitation when
and if it becomes available. This notice may represent the only
official notice of such a solicitation. See Note 22. (0009) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0040 19950110\J-0007.SOL)
