The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is developing a subsistence prime vendor program for the distribution of food items directly to all VA Medical Centers nationwide. The medical centers will be grouped into geographic clusters and distributors will have the opportunity to submit proposals for any or all clusters. Pricing on all contract items would be adjusted monthly based on the distributor's current product cost plus a fixed distribution fee. Issuance of a draft solicitation for prime vendor contracts will be on or about January 23, 1995. Requests for copies of the draft solicitation should be faxed to (708) 216-2451 (Attn: Subsistence Prime Vendor). Street addresses must be included; P.O. Boxes are not acceptable. The VA intends to conduct presolicitation conferences in order to provide an executive overview of, and solicit comments on, the draft solicitation from interested parties. The VA will also address any questions or concerns regarding the proposed subsistence prime vendor program at that time. The presolicitation conferences have tentatively been scheduled for the following locations and dates: Washington, DC, February 7, 1995; Chicago, IL, February 9, 1995; and Denver, CO, February 14, 1995. If you are unable to attend, please submit your questions or comments in the same manner. The VA will provide confirmation of the locations, dates and times of the presolicitation conferences to all those expressing an interest in attending.
