NRA-OLMSA-95-02 Dr. Tom Scott tel:202-358-2359 The National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA) Life and Biomedical Sciences and
Applications Division is soliciting proposals for research for NASA's
Plant Biology Program. The investigations selected will be flown as
either a small payloads flight experiment in the Space Shuttle Middeck
or as a Space Station MIR flight experiment. There are three research
areas which will have emphasis; 1)the understanding of the role of
gravity in the growth, development structure and function of plants
2)the acquisition of scientific information to develop the
technological base required for the construction and the use of a
bioregenerative life support system to support crews in
extraterrestrial environments and 3)the utilization of gravity and
microgravity to acquire knowledge for benefits on Earth. This
solicitiation is open to U.S. and foreign proposers in all categories
of Governmental and private sector organizations, agencies, and
institutions. The solicitation will be open for the period through
