COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 12,1995 PSA#1261Federal Aviation Administration, 800 Independence Avenue, S.W.,
Washington, D.C., 20591 D -- CTAS SOFTWARE VERSION 4.0.1 DUE 021595 POC Richard S. Kahn,
ASU-350, (202) 267-7342 The Center-TRACON Automation System (CTAS) is
being developed to provide real-time traffic control assistance in the
management of aircraft within or transitioning into the enroute or
terminal airspace boundaries. Principally, CTAS shall: (1) generate a
schedule of traffic at arrival meter fixes and runway thresholds; (2)
provide assistance to the TMC in scheduling aircraft to a gate or
runway; (3) develop and display descent advisory data for fix crossing
with a fuel efficient descent profile; (4) support TRACON controllers
in routing and sequencing aircraft in the terminal area; and (5)
support Center and TRACON controllers in merging and establishing
departure traffic in the enroute structure. To meet the requirements,
CTAS R&D algorithmic software is presently being designed to include
the following tools: (1) Traffic Management Advisor (TMA); (2) Descent
Advisor (DA); (3) Final Approach Spacing Tool (FAST); and Expedite
Departure Path (EDP). The software is in C and UNIX for use on Sun
workstations. Each CTAS release includes a tape of the CTAS software,
user documentation for supported tools and installation instructions.
CTAS release 4.0.1, the current version of CTAS software, includes TMA,
which assists with traffic flow management in the Center environment;
and Passive FAST, which provides runway assignments and sequence
numbers in the TRACON environment.Anyone interested in obtaining a free
copy of CTAS software version 4.0.1 must submit a written request, to
be received not later than COB on Wednesday, February 15, 1995, by the
Contracting Officer as follows: Richard S. Kahn, ASU-350, Federal
Aviation Administration, 800 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, DC,
20591. The request must state it is for CTAS software version 4.0.1
with the TMA and Passive FAST tools; and it must clearly identify the
name, complete address and telephone number of the individual to whom
the package is to be sent. Release of the software is contingent on the
recipient executing a license agreement that limits the use of the
software package. For further information, call the Contracting
