NREL anticipates issuing Request For Bids (RFB) No. RAB-5-15613 on or about Mid-February 1995, for bids from firms who have interest and experience in construction of scientific and/or engineering research facilities. Project location is within the Solar Energy Research Facility (SERF) on the NREL South Table Mountain permanent site in Golden, Colorado. The project consists of the construction/remodel of a new electron microscopy suite of approximately 6,300 square feet. The work includes, but is not limited to: 1) Interiors and architectural finishes; 2) Fire Protection; 3) Mechanical and HVAC; and 4) Electrical and all other work required for a complete and operable facility. Offerors rsponding to the solicitation shall meet the minimum following qualifications: 1) Must have a current insurance EMR rating of 1.0 or less at the time of bidding; 2) Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience during the past ten (10) years in the construction of scientific and/or engineering research facilities; 3) Proposed project manager and Superintendent must each have a minimum of five (5) years experience in the construction of scientific and/or engineering research facilities; 4) Must perform at least twenty percent (20%) of the work with its own organization; and 5) Must provide a minimum of five (5) references from previous clients for scientific research facility construction. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. Tentative date set for award is on or about Mid-March 1995, with a tenative date for receipt of bids on or about Early-March 1995.
