COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 13,1995 PSA#1262DOT, FED HWY ADMN, Contracts and Procurement, 400 7th ST, SW, Rm 4410,
Washington, D.C. 20590 70 -- BARCO GRAPH-X WALL DISPLAY SYSTEM - RETROGRAPHICS 801 HIGH
PERFORMANCE, REAR-SCREEN PROJECTION SYSTEM POC Contact, Ms. Sarah Fahy,
HCP40-D, (202) 366-4106 The FHWA plans to negotiate a contract with
BARCO Inc. of Tucker, Georgia to supply and install a BARCO Graph-X
Wall Display System - RETROGRAPHICS 801 high performance, rear-screen
projection system. The system will support the development of the
Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) Simulator. TO MAINTAIN
COMPATIBILITY WITH RELATED PROJECTS, THE DISPLAY ENVIRONMENT OF THE
ATMS SIMULATOR MUST BE COMPATIBLE WITH, IF NOT IDENTICAL TO,, THE BARCO
DISPLAY SYSTEM CURRENTLY USED IN RELATED PROJECTS. Specifically, the
ATMS Simulator must interoperate with the Human Factors and Training
Testbed being developed by the FHWA, and with field systems, such as
the ATMS prototype currently being developed for the City of Atlanta.
The wall display system for the ATMS Simulator shall be a ''retro''
system (i.e. a self-contained, rear- mounted, ''3-gun'' (RGB)
projection system) with the following capabilities: portability;
Ethernet (10BaseT and AUI) interfaces; X- windows (X11R5)
compatibility; Inputs - RGB analog (BNC connectors), RGB analog (D-9
connector), Video (NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, PAI, SECAM), and 4-pin
S-Video; Viewing angle at 50% brightness - Horizontal +/- 38 degrees;
Scan frequencies - Horizontal (15-94 kHz), Vertical (37-140 kHz);
Retrace Time - Horizontal ((2.5 microsec.), Vertical ((200 microsec.);
RGB bandwidth of at least 70MHz; High contrast, black stripe, rear
screen of at least 67-inch (diagonal); AC Power - 110 VAC+15%/-10%;
Remote control capability. The system shall contain two RETROGRAPHICS
801 67-inch screen projector units adapted as follows: UNITS: 1. The
standard TTL input board shall be replaced by a second RGB analog input
module. This input will be used to connect the video switch output to
the projector. 2. Convergence on green shall be used to match the
images on screens generated by different projectors. 3. A contrast
modulation unit shall guarantee the uniformity of contrast and color
across the entire Graph-X display subsystem. SCREENS: These are two
element screens with the following functional sections: 1. A Fresnel
lens on the projector side. 2. Diffusion material embedded in the
screen matrix to control vertical light distribution. 3. The linear
lens (lenticular) on the audience side. 4. Black stripe matrix to
enhance contrast and viewability in high ambient light environments.
The projection system shall contain a Multi-screen Graphics System. The
graphics processor shall be delivered in a 19- inch VME rack and
includes: Power supply, Ethernet port, 47 MIPS SPARC CPU with 16 MB
DRAM, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, 300 MB Hard disk, 2 I/O ports, SCSI
port, and 4 slots for Quad Sub-area Rendering Processor (SRP) installed
in the processor part of the multi-screen graphic system, including any
proprietary X-server software, Operating System, Window Manager, SRP
extensions, and for the RGB outputs. The projection system shall
contain two sets of Anvil traveling cases for packaging the projector
systems. Installation of the system shall be onsite in McLean, Virginia
and shall include all cabling, connectors, and labor to start up the
system as described above, including adjustment and calibration of the
projectors and alignment of the system wide display. Access to the
site will be provided for assembly at least 1 week prior to start-up
installation. There shall be a minimum of one-year onsite warranty and
service contract on all hardware and software system components.
Delivery and installation of the entire system shall be within 60 days
of the contract award. Note 22 applies. (0011) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0295 19950112\70-0001.SOL)
