A -- A -- EMBEDDED GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM ANALYSIS SOL N00019-94-G-0291 POC Contact, Steve Frate, Phone (703)604-6100 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to place an order under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-94-G-0291 for engineering effort required for the integration of an Embedded Global Positioning System Inertial Navigation System (EGI) into the F/A-18 aircraft. This effort will include development for retrofit of EGI's into F/A-18 A/B's (Lots 6-9) and F/A-18 C/D's (Lots 10-16). Integration of the EGI system into the F/A-18 aircraft will require aircraft structural, electrical, and thermal modifications as well as product support and flight test support. NAVAIR intends to negotiate this order with McDonnell Douglas Aerospace (MDA), the designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the F/A-18 aircraft, and as such, the only firm possessing the technical knowledge and expertise, facilities, tooling, and special test equipment necessary to perform the effort within the required timeframe.
