The 12/9/94 issue of the CBD announced that the Naval Sea Systems Command intended to issue a competitive Draft RFP for one AN/BQG-5 Passive Sonar Receiving Set. A draft RFP will not be issued, however a formal RFP for this requirement will be issued on or about 01 February 1995. The estimated value for the required AN/BQG-5 is approximately $35 million dollars. A ''Bidder's List'' has already been started from responses received following the previous 12/9/94 CBD announcement. A reading library has been established in New London, CT to enable company representitives with appropriate security clearances to review technical information regarding the present AN/BQG-5 systems. Access to the library will be reserved for companies/individuals with demonstrated expertise in sonar or submarine combat systems and the adaptation of commercial technology to military applications. It is the Navy's intention to hold an ''Industry Briefing'' approximately one week after the RFP is released. The briefing will provide further information and clarification of the Navy's requirement and offer an opportunity for companies to have their questions answered by Navy program personnel.
