Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for support in the fabrication of a Mercury accelerator. Mercury is an inductive-voltage-adder accelerator, which can be operated in either positive or negative polarity. In positive polarity and coupled to an extraction applied-B ion diode, Mercury will produce a high-power ion beam (5 MV, 500kA, 50 ns), while in negative polarity it will produce a high-power electron beam (8 MV, 500 kA, 50 ns). Specialized materials and hardware and materials required for the fabrication of hardware shall be provided by the contractor. The contractor shall fabricate hardware for Mercury following engineering drawings provided by NRL. Telephone requests for this solicitation will not be honored.
