Kimberly Washington, 404/331-3687 The Southeast Archeolgical Center,
National Park Service, Tallahassee, Florida is the central repository
for the archeologicl collections form the 60 park units of the
Southeast Region of the National Park Service. The collections consist
of more than 1,000 individual accessions, including multi-million item
holdings of artifactual materials; and several hundred thousand
supporting documents including reports, field notes, maps, drawings,
profiles, color and black and white photographs, computer records, and
other types of data. The center is responsible for maintaining these
collections and meeting National Park Service standards for artifact
accountability and physical control, and National Park Service and
professional standards for carotene. The Center is currently having new
facilities built in Tallahassee and will be moving it's museum
collections to the new building within the next 10 months. The purpose
of this project is to prepare the Center's collection for moving into
the new facility in accordance with National Park Service standards
and those of the museum profession in general. This project will assist
in moving the collections and in un- packing the collections at the new
