556-1388 x251. Pursuant to the National Historic Preservation Act
Amendments of December 20, 1980, Public Law 96-515, 94 Stat. 2997,
which amends the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, 16 U.S.C.
470 et seq., the National Park Service (``NPS'') is issuing a Request
for Proposals (``RFP'') from interested organizations which
demonstrate capability to undertake a long-term lease for all or a
portion of the Main Post buildings and grounds. The Main Post is
located in the historic Presidio of San Francisco, California, which
transferred from the United States Department of the Army to the Golden
Gate National Recreation Area on October 1, 1994. Buildings available
pursuant to this RFP include: Building 36, Building 37, Building 38,
Building 39, Building 50, Building 85, Building 86, Building 87,
Building 97, Building 101, Building 102, Building 106 and Building 116.
These buildings total approximately 300,000 gross square feet of space.
Potential reuse includes use of the buildings as office, institutional,
exhibit space, or dining facilities, so long as such use is consistent
with Final General Management Plan Amendment, adopted in August, 1994.
Buildings are in good or fair condition and substantial rehabilitation
may be required. Copies of the RFP may be obtained by calling or
writing Carolyn Peterson at the number or address in this notice. The
RFP contains the procedures and form by which proposals should be
submitted. All persons interested in making a submittal shall be
permitted and/or encouraged to make a complete inspection of the
buildings including all available records, plans, specifications, or
other such documentation. Successful submittals must have demonstrated
the capacity to plan, finance, and implement the full reuse of the
buildings selected in the proposer's Preliminary Reuse Concept.
Following evaluation of submittals, the NPS may choose to commence
exclusive lease negotiations with one or more parties by April 17,
1995. The NPS reserves the right to reject any or all submittals or
terminate lease negotiations at any time. Submittals must be received
by the NPS Presidio Project Office by 4:00 p.m., Pacific Standard Time,
on March 17, 1995 at the following address: Office of the General
