The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is being constructed at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). Vacuum hardware and instrumentation which will be needed for this project includes the following (quantities and values are approximates, and subject to change): Item OS#3: 10 all-metal, uhv gate valves with 8-cm diameter bore and 92 of 12-cm diameter bore, rf shielded, bakeable and electro-pneumatic; Item OS#4: 72 formed, stainless steel bellows with 13-cm diameter bore with end-cuff assemblies, for operation at temperatures in the range of 4.2 - 623 K; Item OS#5: 96 fabricated stainless steel pumping tees comprising an 12-cm diameter x 60-cm long beam-tube with 46-cm long, screen-shielded trunk, terminated with a 20-cm diameter ConFlat flange and with an assortment of smaller uhv flanges; Item OS#7: Heater blankets for bakeout of 96 large ion pumps, 500 8-cm diameter beam pipes of lengths 1-3m, 122 vacuum valves and 122 pumping tees to 350 C; Item OS#11: 18 partial pressure gauges with electron multipliers, mounted on 7.0-cm diameter Conflat flanges, and with controllers giving a MDS of 10-12 Torr He: Item OS#12: 72 partial pressure gauges with faraday cups, mounted on 7.0-cm diameter ConFlat flanges; and with controllers giving a MDS of 10-9 Toree He; Item OS#13: 122 diode sputter-ion pumps, with 20-cm diameter ConFlat flanges and having N2 speeds greater than or equal to 150 L/sec at 10-8 Torr; Item OS#20: 122 constant voltage TSP power supplies, 500 VA min., capable of powering three filaments, remotely controlled via half-duplex RS-485 serial communication.
