Government intends to enter into a procurement for an Extravehicular
Mobilty Unit (EMU) Regenerable Metal Oxide CO2 Removal System. This
system consists of a Metal Oxide CO2 scrubber which is a Regenerable
atmospheric control system that removes the crew members expired CO2
and trace contaminants from the EMU vent loop. The system shoukd be
able to support approximately forty (40) 8-hour Extravehicular Activity
(EVA) excursions during a one year period on the International Space
Station Alpha. The system is required to interface with the existing
EMU and take the place of the current Contamination Control Cartridge
(CCC). No modification to the existing system will be allowed. NASA
envisions this procurement to be for the development and certification
of this system with an option for production of canister inventories
(including spares) sufficient to support EVA's during one year on orbit
plus resupply and ground support/training. This contract will also
contain an option for supplying additional quantities of regenration
units and caisters in a sufficient number to support ISSA EVA campot
sceneries. Delivery of regeneration units is required by October 1997,
and the canisters required under the first option cited by October
1998. The offeror must have the ability and resources to develop and
manufacture the items mentioned in this procurement. INterested parties
