Z -- RENOVATION OF TWO RESIDENTIAL QUARTERS Sol DTMA95-95-B-00003 due 031695. Contact, Mary Weinum, 516-773-5435/Contracting Officer. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy seeks sources capable of supplying all labor, supervision, materials, tools and equipment necessary to perform renovation of Quarters ``E'' and ``F'' at the Academy. The work shall include plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting tasks. Plumbing responsibilities shall include installing new sinks, vanities, bath tubs, showers, dishwashers, refrigerators and ceramic tiles where required. In addition, replacement of existing water supply and waste lines, where accessible, shall be accomplished, and the conversion to a hot water boiler system, with associated baseboard heating, is to be included. Extensive sheetrock installation and painting of the entire area, as well as miscellaneous floor repair and installation of new kitchen cabinetry, shall comprise the carpentry segment of the project. The electrical portion shall include the installation of a specified number of light fixtures, outlets and miscellaneous items. Where applicable, replacement items shall be energy efficient. Solicitation packages will be ready approximately 15 February 1995. The tentative date for the site inspection is 02 March 1995. The estimted price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. All requests for the solicitation must be made in writing. No telephone requests shall be accepted. The applicable standard industrial classification is 1522. This project is 100 percent set-aside for small business concerns. FOR MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disdvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged businessenterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
