The work to be performed is maintenance painting of the main and auxiliary locks, accessories, and miscellaneous buildings which will include surface preparation of existing lead containing paints. The locks will continuously be in operation while surface preparation and painting activities take place and no painting activities shall conflict with the locking operations or schedules. All painting and surface preparation activities will take place above the normal water level on the upstream and downstream sides of the lock. The work shall consist of: (a) Surface preparation of steel and concrete, to include lead paint removal. (b) Painting of steel and concrete surfaces. Duration of the job is 210 days after receipt of a signed contract and is estimated to be in the $250,000 to $500,000 range.
