USAF Aeronautical Systems Center, Weapons Air Base, and Range Product Support Office, Projects Division(ASC/LIW-A), Eglin AFB FL, is planning the procurement of a 40mm fuze to replace the current MK27 Mod 1 Point Detonating Fuze used on the PGU-9A/B Round. The PGU-9A/B is a round used by the L-60 Cannon on-board the AC-130 Gunship aircraft. The Program Office is interested in a fuze that is compliant with MIL-STD-1316D and has a no-arm distance of 140 feet. Compliance with the rough handling and environmental requirements of MIL-STD-331B and MIL-STD-810E is also required. The fuze shall be capable of being mounted on a fuzeless PGU-9A/B. WE EMPHASIZE THAT THIS Is A NONDEVELOPMENT ITEM (NDI) ACQUISITION THAT REQUIRES THE CONTRACTOR To POSSESS THE CAPABILITY TO DELIVER PRODUCTION FUZES ABOUT 12 MONTHS After CONTRACT AWARD. This is not a build to print effort. The functional performance requirements and physical interface requirements will be contained in a Product Function Specification (PFS). Contractors must possess an existing government qualified fuze that satisfies the PFS functional requirements. A high degree of existing automation and process control in both fabrication and assembly is required to meet the production rates with a high product quality. Interested firms are requested to provide data that demonstrates that the proposed fuze meets the First Article Acceptance Requirements contained in the PFS. Firms are required to possess an existing production capability to fabricate 30,000 fuzes per month. Contractors interested in receiving a copy of the PFS should contact the POC by phone. Firms who feel they have the applicable capability and interest should submit specific information to document their fuze, equipment, processes, and capabilities to successfully execute this effort to Aeronautical Systems Division (ASC/LIW-A), it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). 102 West D Ave, Suite 168, Attn: Capt Dorian Corbett, Eglin AFB, FL 32542-6807) within 15 days of this publication. Such information should address fuze functional and physical description, fuze test results, fuze production capability, and knowledge of technology involved to meet the general requirement. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only, and It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Firms responding to this synopsis should indicate if they are a small or small disadvantaged business concern as defined in FAR 52.219-1 and 52.219-2. (0018)
