Center, MS 39529-5004 58 -- ACOUSTIC BACKSCATTERING SYSTEM SOL N00014-95-R-JR01 DUE 030995
POC Contact Point: Contract Specialist, Jerry Riles, 601-689-8978,
Contracting Officer: Nancy M. Camp, 601-689-8990 Requirement is for an
acoustic backscattering system capable of continuous operation 24 hrs
per day for a minimum of four weeks. The system shall consist of a wet
end (towed acoustic body) connected to a dry end (ship board)
electronics with a 50 m faired multi-conductor coaxial cable which
serves as a strength member to pull the Tow Body, power conductor and
high speed communications link between wet and dry end electronics.
Shall have the following minimum baseline specifications: The tow body
shall, (a) house 4 transducers; (b) be capable of stable speeds of 30
kts, minimum, (c) electronics shall include transmitters, receivers,
and four channel A/D, all under subsea processor control with digitized
sonar and status data up-linked through and ethernet communications
link. Electronics shall be contained in a single double O-ring sealed
pressure housing, (d) transducers, pressure housing, and feed throughs
shall be pressure tested to and operate to 300 m ocean depths. The
Ship Board Electronics shall include an Intel 486 or Pentium chip based
station with four DSP processing channels. System specific requirements
include: (a) Operating frequencies of 100, 200 300, and 500 MHz, (b)
Selectable transmit waveforms of short pulse AM envelope or FM (Chirp),
(c) shall have acoustic source level of +240 dB ref 1uPa @ meter-all 4
channels, (d) shall have a dynamic range of 130db, (e) Preamplifiers:
Maxim LT-28 op-amps @ 1.2 nv/vHz or better. The 200 KHz system shall
detect a signal scattered from a scatter with TS=-100dB at a range of
100m at 3 dB above system noise, (f) Dual 17 inch SVGA high resolution
color monitors, (g) Exabyte 8mm digital tape, 5 gbyte per cartridge,
(h) Software supplied: DOS platform with windows operating environment.
Source codes shall be provided to allow user custom programming. Shall
be accompanied with operating and maintenance documents. Installation
documentation shall also be included. Complete minimum requirements
shall be included with the solicitation package. A firm fixed-price
type contract is anticipated. Prospective vendors should request in
writing, a copy of solicitation number N00014-95-R-JR01 to be issued
