EPA anticipates making an award to a contractor to demonstrate the economics, ease of application, quality and durability of automobile finishes using environmentally safe technology and products. Promising technologies such as high volume low pressure spray guns, low VOC paints and primers, waterbased primers and short wavelength infrared curing are available for this area. The demonstrations will focus on technologies which can prevent emissions from small, dispersed, stationary area-sources and have the results of these tests available to small companies that have not had access to control or prevention technologies previously. Interested parties may obtain a copy of the solicitation by submitting a written request. This is a small business set-aside. The SIC Code No. is 8731 which has a size standard of 500 employees. Firms must identify their size status when requesting a copy of the solicitation. Firms who fail to do so shall be considered to be large businesses. A limited number of copies are available. Only one copy shall be issued to a corporate entity, regardless of the number of requests from one or more different geographic locations. Copies will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. A copy of the source list will be mailed with the solicitaion. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency. The synopsis previously published on 4/18/94 is modified as follows: The period of performance is a base period and two (2) option periods for a total of twenty-two (22) months.
